Pistachio Press, Rochester NY

The Itinerant Printer’s first trip was just a hop, skip, and a jump down the 90 from Buffalo to Rochester, NY. We’re in the process of ramping up the promotional machinery for the project, and we thought it would only be fitting to have letterpressed handbills – thousands of them. We also thought it’d only be fitting to do them on the road. That’s when we thought of our friends at Pistachio Press, Rachael and Jake. They have a Heidelberg windmill that turns a four day job on the Vandercook into a four hour job, and for that, we’re eternally grateful.

We packed up our formes and some camera equipment and set off down the road; we arrived a short hour and a half later, coffee in hand, ready to crank out 3000 little wonders. Pistachio is a well-kempt, well-appointed little shop that works primarily with photopolymer housed in a shared workspace with a few other artists. They do amazing, unconventional work, from unorthodox cards to perfect invites and announcements. Rachael has been a presence in nationally acclaimed Ladies of Letterpress, and in her spare time, she’s found a way to collaborate on a local handmade artisan market in Rochester called Second Storie. Take a minute to look at all the uniquely styled pieces in their online shop!
